"My name's Grady, that is your inspection desk. You are a product inspector."
―Grady during Aperture Desk Job trailer

Grady is a Personality Core who appears as an instruction mentor in Aperture Desk Job. He assists the player throughout the game and invents a turret toilet that is used as a recurring device in the story.

Biography[]

Appearances[]

Aperture Desk Job[]

Grady first appears to the player as an assistant robot to monitor the player's inspection on home appliances, specifically Aperture Science-Class toilets. When an accident happens and the toilet is filled with ammunition, Grady becomes inspired to recreate the toilet as a sentient weapon.

Appearance[]

Grady is a blue assistant core that is suspended from a management rail by a metal rod and a mechanism similar to the arms of elevating work platform. He controls a separate arm which is also suspended from the management rail that has two fingers and a thumb. He is a sub model of the original personality core, and can be removed from his suspension without being deactivated. Grady has a red iris that shares the same design of a Sentry Turret. His chassis resembles a Rocket Sentry.

Personality and skills[]

Grady appears to be a talented engineer, as he is the inventor of the beta/prototype of the turret. He demonstrates a laid back attitude, attempting to be a good coworker through conversation. However, despite having a clipboard that tells him specifically what to do and what not to do, Grady ends up failing every single one of these tasks in order. For example, asking personal questions and comparing their work conditions. This may be because he possibly is defective.

Grady demonstrates some intelligence not only through his inventions and ability to learn from mistakes (for the most part), but also through the fact he was able to become a parole officer while the player was in jail, and is seemingly doing a decent job at it.
