The Roller Buddy is a Rollermine unit cut from Half-Life 2. It was to be the friendly version of the Rollermine which was recycled into the Rollermine being reprogrammed by Alyx Vance after she uses the EMP Tool.

The Roller Buddy was to follow the player and be commanded with the Roller Wand.
By clicking left on the mouse it would move to a position as right click were both follow and commanding modes. The follow option commanded the buddy to follow the player and stay close while command mode had the buddy stay at the area the player pointed at.
Once being commanded the buddy would play a series of tones was would've been generated when its spawned. The buddy would stop moving or it would keep on trying to move to that same exact area unless the player marked another area to go. The buddy would treat Vortigaunts, Rebels and Conscripts similar to the way it does with the player.
