The Security Camera (also known as the thick camera) is a camera that reused by the Combine which was cut from Half-Life 2. It is the direct predecessor to the Combine Camera.
Overview[]
- Unlike, the combine camera the security camera has no AI instead it just turns left and right. It is most likely used by Civil Protection to watch Gas Mask Citizens or other Citizens.
- The scripts for them still exist though there were no things that activated them so in order to have them turning you could go in the files and turn them off and on. It was always to be hanging off a wall on the sides no matter what. It was to also always be pointed down.
- A smaller and thinner version of the camera was created in the "
d1_terminal
" maps to replace the original. It uses two separate models one for the camera while the other is the one attached to it. The thinner camera has its own sound files playing whenever the camera turns.
Maps[]
It is first seen in "c17_01
" watching a hallway as another is seen watching a metro cop talking to a gas mask citizen. The camera also appears in "c17_plaza02_redo
" (revision 02) as it is watching at the end of the hallway and another looking at a hand truck (similar hallways and stairs to "c17_01
"). In "c17_plaza06
" the camera's remain the same except when you enter the hallway another camera will be seen with both of them facing each other from one end to the next with another appearing at the bottom of the stairs as well.
In "d1_terminal_01_05
" they all appear the exact same. In "d1_terminal_01_15
" they appear like they did in 01_05 but the area to get to them is closed off and could only be accessible with via noclip. In "d1_terminal_01_26
" they again appear the same way they did in the last prototype map. Eventually they appeared in "d1_terminal_01_40
" as they were the last time to be seen until "c17_01
".
