The Socket Wrench is a weapon cut from Half-Life 2 and seen in Half-Life 2: Raising the Bar.

Overview[]

Concept art for Half-Life 2 featured in Raising the Bar shows that Alyx was to own at some point a basic/melee weapon in the form of a socket wrench, in the vein of the crowbar for Gordon or the pipe wrench for Shephard. It is unknown if she is portrayed with it only for aesthetic reasons or if it actually was to be scripted, as no information is given about the picture.

Raising the Bar also states that during several design meetings, the team considered making her more of a tinkering mechanic.^[1] It is possible they considered her to be seen using that tool at some point to perform normal tasks, since her model still has sockets attached to the belt.
